In just under two weeks, The Artisan Shop & Studio turns two.
Two.
That feels both tiny and massive.
Some days it feels like we just unlocked the doors and hoped someone would wander in. Other days it feels like we’ve lived a lifetime in these walls — vendors coming and going, classes evolving, kiln loads firing late into the night and new friendships forming.
Two years ago, this space was an idea that lived in my head. A place where artists could sell their work without feeling small. A studio where beginners wouldn’t feel intimidated. A place where someone could walk in and say, “I don’t know how to do this,” and the answer would always be, “That’s okay. Let’s start.”
And now here we are.
Two years later — with kiln shelves full, vendors who’ve grown with us, classes that sell out, and new ideas constantly brewing in the background.
So Are We Celebrating? Absolutely!
March 14th — Save the Date 🎉
Our official 2nd Birthday is March 1st however it happens to land right in the middle of some of my favorite people birthdays.
Don’s birthday is February 25th.
My oldest son, Logan's is March 3rd.
Tiauna’s — our shop magician who makes every table look intentional and beautiful — is March 9th.
It’s a full week of celebration. Which is why forcing a big shop party exactly on March 1st feels… off.
Two years ago, we unlocked the doors to this space. But it was never just “my” dream. Don has stood next to me through every wild idea and late-night panick glazing. My oldest has quietly cheered us on, gently reminding me when I start spinning too fast. Tiauna pours heart into this space daily in ways most people never see.
And before my December baby calls me out — yes, my youngest, whose birthday lands on New Year’s Eve (because apparently we don’t do subtle timing in this family), means the absolute world to me too. He just gets his own dramatic fireworks finale at the end of every year.
The shop may have a birthday — but it exists because of people. And something I’ve learned in these past two years:
If I’m building a community space that values connection… I have to practice that at home first.
So no, we won’t host the big celebration exactly on March 1st. We’re going to celebrate intentionally without rushing past the people who matter most. And the kind of energy that reminds you why this place feels different
Two years deserves a proper moment.
So What Can You Expect From This Year’s Celebration?
On Saturday, March 14th from 11am–4pm, we’re hosting a relaxed open-house style birthday celebration.
You can stop in anytime to:
- try a mini maker project
- watch live artisan demos
- put your hands in clay at the wheel
- explore the studio spaces
- enjoy tea, coffee, cake, and good company
The first 75 guests will also receive a small thank-you gift from us.
No schedule. No pressure. Just creating, visiting, and celebrating two years of learning and making together.
A Small Question For You
As we head toward our second birthday and into spring, I’ve been asking myself:
What is one thing I’ve been wanting to start… but haven’t given myself permission to try?
Maybe for you it’s:
- A creative hobby
- A garden bed
- A new role
- A hard conversation
- A tiny business idea you haven’t said out loud yet
What would happen if this spring you just began?
Not perfectly. Not loudly. Not with a five-year plan.
Just… began.
Two years ago I unlocked a door and hoped someone would come.
Now we’re building something with roots.
And spring feels like it’s just getting started.
