What Is the Artisan Kids Art Camp?

The Artisan Kids Art Camp is a week-long summer art program designed for kids ages 7–12 who love to create. Students explore clay, painting, mixed media, and glass art while learning real artistic techniques in a welcoming studio environment.

Each day includes guided instruction, hands-on projects, and opportunities to experiment with materials while building creative confidence.

Weekly Schedule and Registration

Each camp week focuses on a different art medium and set of creative techniques. Families register for camp one week at a time, and the materials and projects are determined by the weekly theme. Students will explore the featured medium for that week as they build skills and complete guided projects with instructor support.

Art Studio Sampler

June 8th-12th

This week offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of artistic mediums while discovering what materials they enjoy most. Campers will experiment with drawing, clay, painting, glass and other creative techniques while learning foundational skills used by artists in different disciplines. Each day introduces new tools and processes while reinforcing creative problem-solving and studio habits that help young artists grow in confidence.

June 15th-19th

This week introduces students to the fundamentals of working with clay through hands-on handbuilding and pottery wheel throwing techniques. Campers will explore pinch, coil, and slab methods while learning how to shape, join, and decorate their creations. Students will also spend time on the pottery wheels exploring basic wheel throwing techniques. Each day builds on the previous day’s skills as students develop confidence working with clay and experiment with surface texture and design. Projects may evolve throughout the week as students apply new techniques to refine and expand their work.

Color and Paint

June 22nd-26th

Students will explore painting techniques and the basics of color theory while learning how artists use color, texture, and composition to create expressive artwork. Through guided projects, campers will practice mixing colors, layering paint, and experimenting with tools that create interesting textures and patterns. Skills introduced early in the week will continue to develop through more detailed and creative projects as students gain confidence in their painting abilities.

Mixed Media

July 6th-10th

This week focuses on combining materials to create layered and dimensional artwork. Students will experiment with a variety of materials such as paper, paint, fiber, textures, and found elements while learning how artists plan and build mixed media pieces. As the week progresses, students will build on earlier techniques to create more complex projects that incorporate layering, composition, and creative problem-solving.

Glass Art and Light

July 13th-17th

This week introduces students to the creative possibilities of working with glass. Campers will explore how artists use color, shape, and light to create beautiful glass artwork. Throughout the week, students will experiment with glass mosaics, glass fusing projects, and simple stained glass techniques while learning about design, pattern, and composition. Each day builds on the skills introduced earlier in the week as students become more confident handling materials and developing their designs. Is This Camp Right For My Child

The Artisan Kids Camp is a great fit for children who:

  • Enjoy hands-on creative projects
  • Are curious about learning new art techniques
  • Can follow step-by-step instructions in a group setting
  • Are comfortable working independently with instructor guidance
  • Feel excited about making art rather than unstructured free play

This program works best for students who are ready to participate in a structured, instructor-led learning environment and who enjoy exploring materials while building skills.

This camp may not be the best fit for children who:

  • Need one-on-one supervision or individualized care
  • Struggle significantly with following group instructions
  • Prefer free play or open-ended activity without structure
  • Have difficulty working safely with shared tools and materials

Our goal is to create a positive, supportive studio experience for all students. Setting clear expectations helps ensure that everyone — students, instructors, and families — has a successful and enjoyable week.

Still unsure?

If you have questions about whether this camp is a good fit for your child, we’re happy to help. Please reach out before registering, and we’ll be glad to talk through the program with you.
