Class Description
Clay & Form week introduces students to the fundamentals of working with clay through hands-on handbuilding techniques and an introduction to the pottery wheel. Throughout the week, campers will learn how artists shape, join, and decorate clay while creating both functional and decorative pieces.
Students will begin by exploring foundational techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab construction while learning how clay behaves as a material. As the week progresses, campers build on these skills by adding texture, surface design, and structural details to their projects.
Students will also have the opportunity to observe and explore the pottery wheel with instructor guidance. This hands-on introduction allows young artists to experience the basics of wheel throwing while gaining an appreciation for the focus and coordination involved in creating pottery.
Each day builds on the skills introduced earlier in the week, helping students develop confidence working with clay while encouraging creativity and experimentation.

**Camp Guidelines**
To help ensure a positive experience for all students, we ask families to review the following camp guidelines before the first day of camp.
What to Wear
Campers should wear comfortable clothing that can get messy. Many of our projects involve paint, clay, and other art materials that may stain clothing. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety in the studio.
What to Bring
Students should bring a water bottle each day. All art materials and tools for the projects are provided by the studio.
Studio Safety
Artisan Kids Art Camp takes place in a working art studio. Students will be guided in safe studio practices including proper tool use, respectful handling of materials, and keeping workspaces organized.
All projects are designed with age-appropriate tools and instructor supervision to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Parents or approved guardians must sign students in and out each day. Students will only be released to individuals listed on the registration form with a photo id.
Please plan to arrive promptly at the end of camp so instructors can prepare the studio for the next activities.
