Class Description

This hands-on pottery class introduces kids to the magic of working with clay through both wheel throwing and handbuilding. Students will have the opportunity to try the pottery wheel with instructor guidance and, if the wheel proves challenging, transition seamlessly into handbuilding projects such as small cups, bowls, or sculptural pieces.

This class is designed to be fun, exploratory, and pressure-free—perfect for curious kids who want to try the wheel while still working towards a successful and creative experience for everyone.

What to Expect

• A demonstration of basic wheel throwing techniques

• Each student will have their own pottery wheel to use during the class with hands-on instructor support

• A handbuilding option available during the class

• Emphasis on creativity, exploration, and enjoying the process

• The potential is 1–2 finished clay pieces per student (depending on pace, project choice and ability)

Pieces will be kiln-fired after class. Families will be notified when items are ready for pickup.

Important Notes for Parents & Guardians

Pottery wheel throwing requires hand strength, coordination, and patience, and each child’s experience will vary. Some students may find centering and shaping clay on the wheel challenging—and that is completely normal for kids and adults.

• While every student will have the opportunity to try the wheel, we cannot guarantee wheel-thrown results.
• The inability to perform specific wheel techniques is not the responsibility of the studio or instructors.
• All students will be supported and guided toward a successful project, whether on the wheel or through handbuilding.

Our goal is for every child to leave feeling proud, accomplished, and excited about clay—not frustrated or discouraged.

Cancellation Policy:
Due to limited class sizes and advance preparation, cancellations made online at least 7 days prior to the class receive a full refund. Within 3 days of the class, please call the store to reschedule for a future class, availability pending. No refunds or reschedules for cancellations less than 3 days prior.
