Spin Into Pottery: Community Pottery Wheel Workshop
Have you ever wanted to try throwing pottery on a wheel? Our Community Pottery Wheel Workshop is the perfect introduction to one of the most rewarding—and challenging—forms of pottery.
Designed for beginners, this hands-on workshop welcomes individuals, couples, families, and friends looking to explore a new creative experience. Our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of wheel throwing, from centering clay to shaping your first forms, while encouraging you to enjoy the process of learning something new.
No experience is necessary — we'll guide you through every step.
What You'll Make
• Several practice forms on the pottery wheel
• Choose your favorite piece or pieces to keep and have fired
Every person's pottery journey looks a little different, especially on the first try. Some participants create multiple pieces they're excited to keep, while others discover that the experience of learning is just as rewarding as the finished product. Before you leave, you'll choose your favorite piece or pieces to keep.
What To Expect
• Step-by-step instruction on the fundamentals of pottery wheel throwing
• Learn centering, opening, pulling walls, and shaping basic forms
• Plenty of hands-on guidance from our instructors
• A welcoming, beginner-friendly environment where learning the process is the goal
• Return approximately 2 weeks after class to glaze your finished pottery during regular business hours
Wheel throwing takes practice, so don't worry if your first attempts aren't perfect—every experienced potter started exactly where you are. The goal is to enjoy the experience, learn a new skill, and create something uniquely your own.
Please wear comfortable clothing that can get a little muddy. Clay washes out easily with water, but we recommend leaving jewelry and long sleeves at home.
Supplies Provided
• Clay and all studio materials
• Use of pottery wheels and studio tools
• Beginner-friendly instruction
• Bisque firing

Finished pieces will be ready for glazing approximately 2 weeks after your class. Once glazed, they will be kiln-fired again and ready for pickup about 1 week later.
