Sew It Yourself: Zipper Pouch Workshop

Taught by Mary McCannon

Create a stylish and functional 6” x 9” zipper pouch perfect for art supplies, cosmetics,

or travel essentials. This beginner-friendly class builds on basic sewing knowledge and

walks you step-by-step through installing a zipper and assembling a fully lined pouch.

If you are not familiar with your sewing machine, please consider taking our Truly

Beginner Sewing Class first. 

What to Expect

• Learn how to sew in a zipper (it’s easier than you think!).
• Add lining and fusible interfacing for structure.
• Practice topstitching for clean, professional results.
• Leave class with a nearly completed or completed zipper pouch (depending on

preparation).

Important Class Requirements

The pattern for this class will be provided the night of the class. Before the class,

please cut

• 2 pieces of exterior fabric – each 10” X 7”
• 2 pieces of lining fabric - each 10”x 7”
• 2 pieces of interfacing (SF101) 9” x 6”
• Center the interfacing on each piece of exterior fabric, iron on.

Supplies You Must Bring

• Sewing machine (in good working order)
• Power cord and pedal
• Zipper presser foot
• Fabric (exterior & lining)
• Fusible interfacing
• 9” zipper to match exterior fabric
• Thread to match exterior and lining fabric, pins, scissors, marking tool, bobbin

Cancellation Policy

Due to limited class sizes and advance preparation, cancellations made online at least 7 days prior to the class receive a full refund.
Within 3 days of the class, please call the store to reschedule for a future class (availability pending).
No refunds for cancellations made less than 3 days prior to the class.
